@maiaos/agent

Maia's own AI coding agent, maia agent, and the managed worker that Maia Node runs, both built on the official @earendil-works/pi-coding-agent SDK.

Pre-release. Maia publishes canary builds to npm only, and latest follows the newest one (earlier nightly builds are historical). They are not release-qualified, and Maia has no stable release (D-202).

Requirements

Node.js 24.22.1.

Install

maia agent ships with the maia CLI:

pnpm add -g @maiaos/cli@canary

To embed the library in your own process, use pnpm add @maiaos/agent@canary.

Usage

maia agent                                      # interactive; type /login to sign in
maia agent --print --no-session -- "Explain this repository"
maia agent --json-events --no-session -- "Review the current diff"

Pi supplies the agent loop, models, providers, TUI, sessions and extensions. Maia adds Maia-owned paths and credentials, digest-pinned project extensions and Skills, a few reviewed built-ins, and the boundary to Maia Node. It never runs an installed pi executable or reads ~/.pi.

Every entry sets PI_OFFLINE=1 and PI_SKIP_VERSION_CHECK=1. Project extension code runs with your operating-system permissions, so review it before you pin its digest.

Status

Source candidate. maia agent and its built-ins work from source. Running Maia Agent as a general Node worker for swarms is planned.
