Getting started
Maia is in the architecture and consolidation phase. There is no production installer or implemented desktop product. The repository is private during pre-release; the source workflow below is only available to collaborators with access.
Not a product onboarding flow
These steps exercise the source-callable local foundation. That is current evidence for source-implemented candidates, not the AGENTS implemented label and not product enablement. They do not enable session start, turns, attachments, Skills, Routines, Swarm, or Desktop.
Pre-release collaborator workflow
If you have repository access:
- Clone the Maia repository.
- Use Node 24.22.1. Other Node versions are not the reference runtime.
- Install with pnpm 11.20.0 and follow the development guide.
- Run the local node as documented by
@maiaos/node. - Use source-callable
maiacommands against that node.
Public setup instructions will be published here when the repository is public.
The CLI does not start or stop the node. Project registration records one
canonical Git repository and a local-main workspace. Public JSON uses opaque
location identifiers.
Implemented control path
maia-node -> protocol -> @maiaos/sdk -> built maia CLI
Installed discovery is the classified maia help --json index plus maia help <family> --json. Treat those pages, plus the
CLI README,
as the executable grammar. Component behavior lives in the
CLI README.
Planned families live in the
CLI roadmap.
This site does not duplicate command flags.
What not to expect
- No complete Agent Session, Skill, Routine, Swarm, or adapter surface
- No approval or resource-admission UI
- No offline Skill bundle synchronization
- No implemented Desktop or mobile ADE
- No standalone web control application; the Expo web export is internal to the source-candidate Tauri shell and tests
- No enabled terminal or session-start product path
Continue with Concepts, Node, Protocol, SDK, the CLI notes, or Product Surfaces.
