Maia OS

Maia OS is an AI operating system for organizations: the software core that runs a company's agents, workflows, configuration and policy on infrastructure it controls. One Maia Node is the single source of truth. The CLI, SDK, MCP server and apps are replaceable clients, and Claude Code, Codex and Maia's own agent do the work as workers.

Primary goal: give people and agents every primitive they need to work together at full speed. Maia runs the work, routes every message, traces every action and enforces every policy, so people set the intent and the rules and agents carry them out.

Pre-release. Most of the roadmap is planned, and "Source candidate" means built and tested here but not release-qualified. Maia publishes canary builds to npm only, and latest follows the newest one; Maia has no stable release (D-202). Run Maia from a source checkout.

Quick start

You need Node.js 24.22.1, pnpm 11.20.0, macOS or Linux, and Claude Code or the Codex CLI for workers.

git clone <maia-repository-url>
cd maia
pnpm dev:setup # frozen install, Desktop Rust toolchain, Git hooks
pnpm dev:doctor # checks the toolchain, hooks and dev isolation
pnpm dev:cli # installs ~/.local/bin/maia for this checkout
pnpm dev:worktree create try-maia # an isolated worktree with its own profile and port block
cd ../maia-worktrees/try-maia
pnpm dev:node # builds and runs a Node in the foreground

In a second terminal, in the same worktree:

maia status # the Node reports ready
maia login claude # or: maia login codex
maia integration plan claude-code # a person approves the vendor executable
maia integration apply claude-code --plan <plan-id>
maia project register <path-to-repository> # returns a projectId and a workspaceId

pnpm dev:node runs only in a dev worktree and never touches your real ~/.maia. To drive Maia from Claude Code or Codex, see the coordinator plugin. The development guide covers the daily loop, local gates, CI and troubleshooting.

Security

Report vulnerabilities as described in SECURITY.md, which also lists the security guarantees and known limits. Workers run as your operating-system user: a worktree is not a sandbox.
